Campaign Overview

Postby Kinne » Mon Dec 13, 2010 2:41 pm

This year will see a long-term Warhammer 40,000 campaign, brought to you by The 131. Unlike prior campaigns, this one will be run differently. Rather than running for a number of weeks, this campaign will run for the entire year. Yes, you read that right, the whole year. However, instead of weekly scenarios that you play and report in, this campaign will take a different approach. Every other month, we will host a megabattle to advance the plot. In between these megabattles, there will be a single scenario/mission that players have the option of playing and reporting, which will effect the next megabattle. You will not be required to sign up for and participate in the entire campaign. You can simply partake of the megabattles you find yourself interested in or available for, and skip those you cannot attend, and the same goes for the scenarios and missions.

Keep an eye to this forum for more details and info as the new year approaches, including the date for the first megabattle and background information on the campaign.

Alright folks, here's a little more basic information on the campaign. First off, the armies are divided into two camps:

The Darkstar Crusade
Imperial Guard
Space Marines (All Chapters)
The Inquisition
Eldar
Tau Empire

Forces of the Spine
Orks
Chaos Daemons
Chaos Space Marines
Tyranids
Dark Eldar
Necrons

Now, you do not have to pick a faction for the entire campaign. You may field any armies in your repertoire for any of the events of the campaign, but you are limited to one army per event. Since this campaign will have a strong narrative, certain army abilities (such as the Dark Angels Hunt the Fallen Apocalypse rule) or mixing armies for Apocalypse battles may be restricted. You could, for example, field some Tau and Eldar together, but you wouldn't be able to field Eldar and Dark Eldar (even if you come up with a good reason). Which side are the attackers and which are the defenders may vary, but the "good" guys will always be the Darkstar Crusade, and the "bad" guys will always be the Forces of the Spine.

This campaign will consist primarily of six larger events, megabattles, run every other month throughout the course of the year. There will also be scenarios run for several weeks in between the megabattles. Each will be announced individually on this forum.

I am hoping to have a The Cleansing of Darkstar Spine campaign packet put together before the first megabattle, but bear with me; it has been a slow process. Stay tuned to this forum for more information, and here's hoping that we see you on the tables!
