Epic: Armageddon models being phased out

Postby Slimnoid » Mon Apr 29, 2013 9:26 am

Well, so it seems to be. GW is pulling epic products off the webstore as and when they run out of stock; they'll no longer re-cast once out of stock, confirmed by GW customer services this morning:

Epic was the first taste of 40k and wargaming for me, seeing a game being played in a friends basement. While I've never had a chance to play, it's a bit sad to see it going the way of Gorka Morka, considering it was one of the top 3 games for GW way back when.

Something related, Pocket Size 40K

I thought it would be cool to start a couple armies.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Could that mean that epic will be released as this years mystery box game? I had heard rumors of Blood Bowl, but I could see an all in one epic battle for Armageddon as well.

I thought it would be nice to see a Mystery Box followed by support...but why would they when there is Apocalypse? Even though I never played, I'm saddened to see the end of this. The models are great.

Looks like All specialist games are being phased out. If you check the online store there are strange gaps in the product lines which would point to them not making more when they sell out. If you even plan on wanting specialist games models at retail price, you may want to order now.

Also could this be another sign of a planned sell off? If there are fewer games, or games another company doesn't want it would make sense to get rid of them now.

I did notice that there are minis missing specifically from the Mordheim Section. It looks like Blood Bowl is alive and well, but everything else is disappearing.

Sad, some of the best games GW ever produced were specialist games.

Blood bowl is missing some items as well. No complete amazon team, khemri team or lizard man teams.

*the best games GW has ever produced.

Fixed. Don't get me wrong, I love Fantasy and the 40k universe is amazeballs. . .but Blood Bowl, Mordheim and BFG are the greatest things GW has ever done.

I agree with Kinne. The specialist games are great. They are all games that were created by people that had a passion for what they made, and simply made them because they enjoyed making them. They were never designed to support GW, that's what fantasy and 40k are for.
