Bolt Thrower Drummer passed away

Postby Dez » Thu Sep 17, 2015 1:23 pm ... ead-at-38/

For those of you not familiar, Bolt Thrower is a metal band heavily influenced by Warhammer. They are one of the few that got the blessings of Games Workshop to use a lot of their material.

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

Oh man that is too bad.

I first heard Bolt Thrower working at WUML in College (UMass Lowell station).

I was doing a show entirely based off of album covers, basically I went to the back stacks, which were HUGE (stations been around since '50) and I just grabbed whatever ridiculous metal albums I could find that had dragons, castles, knights, demons, swords, vikings, etc. anything badass and fantasy, and Bolt Thrower was definitely in there. Needless to say, it was an excellently cheesey show.
