New Tournament Rules

Interesting updates here. For starters, the rules specifically bar taking notes or referencing any material other than official FFG documents. And now, each round is worth 11 tournament points, so the smallest split is 6-5, the largest 10-1. Head-to-Head is no longer the first tie breaker. They also added in rules clarifying what will happen if you lose or damage any of your components during a tournament (short answer, don't).

Huh. Is there any place they discussed this, or commented on it? I'm just curious what their reasoning is.

Obviously no one wants players to refer to outside resources to the extent that it could be considered cheating. But no notes at all, not even taking notes during a game, seems a little harsh.

And "referencing any material other than official FFG documents" is super broad. Don't use bad joke material, or your opponent can turn your puns into a disqualification! (Joking, but it still is pretty broad).

There's some discussion about this on the forums, but FFG never participates in those conversations. The speculation is that it's more for the LCGs and whatnot, where a card gets revealed and then returned to their hand, so you're barred from jotting down things like that. Could be to prevent slow play. Honestly, I've never seen anyone take notes during a game. But if they wanted to, as long as it didn't make the game drag, I wouldn't much care.
