Allowed Warbands

Postby Kinne » Mon Apr 25, 2011 10:59 am

Here's the list of warbands we're allowing for the league. Allowed means that the warband will always be allowed, and its balance is, essentially, beyond question. Trial means that we're testing the warband out, either because it's considered unbalanced or because nobody in this area has had enough experience with it to say one way or the other. Be advised that some of these warbands, if found too broken to be fixed, may be disallowed in future events. And lastly, we have disallowed, which are warbands that are just too out of whack with everything else. A careful look will reveal that there are only two disallowed warbands and, not surprisingly, they're the elf warbands. Here's the list:

Reiklanders -- Allowed
Middenheimers -- Allowed
Marienburgers -- Allowed
Cult of the Possessed -- Allowed
Witch Hunters -- Allowed
The Sisters of Sigmar -- Allowed
The Undead -- Allowed
Skaven -- Allowed
Averland -- Allowed
Beastmen Raiders -- Trial
Carnival of Chaos -- Trial*
Dwarf Treasure Hunters -- Trial**
Kislevites -- Allowed
Orcs & Goblins -- Trial
Ostlander -- Allowed
Amazon Warriors -- Trial
Bretonnians -- Trial
Dark Elves -- Disallowed
Lizardmen -- Trial
Norse -- Trial
Pirate Crew -- Trial
Pit Fighters -- Trial
Shadow Warriors -- Disallowed
Tomb Guardians -- Trial
Marauders of Chaos -- Trial
Battle Monks of Cathay -- Trial
The Restless Dead -- Trial
The Black Dwarfs -- Trial
Maneaters -- Trial
Merchant Caravans -- Trial
Black Orcs -- Trial
Forest Goblins -- Trial

* -- Nurgle's Rot has been removed.
** -- The "free" shard of Wyrdstone/Treasure that is earned after each game has been removed.

Most of the above warbands can be found either at Mordheimer or the Border Town Burning website:

Forest Goblins:

Black Orcs:

Note that there are some warbands listed on Mordheimer that are not on the above list. That's because they're considered so laughably ridiculous that we weren't going to even bother listing them as "disallowed". Also, the Ogre Warband on Mordheimer is not on the list, but the Maneater Warband from BTB consists entirely of ogres and is listed as Trial.

Were Black Orcs purposefully omitted?
What aims do the Orks have? What is the point of a tornado?

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

More forgotten. They're not on Mordheimer or BTB, and somebody forgot to post a link. . . ;)

I'll edit the list to upgrade them to "Trial", but if you could furnish the link here, that would be solid.

Blorcs!!!! http://cianty.ashtonsanders.com/nc/pdf/ ... ckorcs.pdf

I'm glad they are on trial, in case I don't have time to build a Marauders of Chaos warband ;)
