Disk of Tzeentch question

Postby Inquisitor Wall » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:47 pm

Disk of Tzeentch makes the character into a jet bike, does this also add +1T to their stat line. Under bikes it seems that it would at least until they decide to FAQ it.
Without the boost to T I'm not a huge fan of the upgrade over a normal bike.

The toughness bonus is included in the profile of units that already have bikes or jetbikes. If it's an option but not mandatory then it's not included in the profile and you get to add +1 toughness. At least that's how I read it.

A FAQ would be nice though.

I'd agree with Erik, here. But I'll double-check my rulebook.

Disc of Tzeentch states that "The model receives +1 attack and his unit type becomes Jetbike." pg.45 of the rulebokk states "Bikes and Jetbike riders benefit from the protection offered by their bike, which increases their Toughness characteristic by 1. If the Bike or Jetbike is part of the model's standard wargear, this bonus is already included on its profile."

So it's pretty cut and dry. Disc riders would get +1T and +1A, and become Jetbikes in all respects.

Blammo. If they changed that up, it would be pretty pointless to take them as an upgrade. I guess unless you wanted them to move more quickly.

That's why I wanted to double check before building up a lord in a disk. Wouldn't make since to take the mark of Tzeentch on a lord unless the disk was worth taking.

So I tried my first game with the new book, and I must say I was pretty happy with how The Lord ended up working.

I used a chaos lord w/mark of Tzeentch, sigil of corruption, disk of Tzeentch, and paired lightning claws. This gives you 6 attacks on the charge, a 3++ save, T5 and I put him with some bikes early on to help prevent shooting.

As far as a straight up lord goes, he was pretty BA and also 60 points less than a daemon prince. I didn't think the eye of the gods would have been a huge deal, but with 4 rolls on the chart, I certainly am thinking of continuing using him over a second prince.

That might not be a bad idea. My thought on the spawn is to get them stuck in a unit and tar pit. It worked against thunder wolves for 3 turns. I don't know if I would have wated a lord stuck in there wiTh them as storm shIelds can take a ton of abuse.

That's why you slingshot The Lord into something he can handle solo. Or use it more as a Death Star then a tar pit.

Also, autocorrected capitalization. Love it.
