steam tank use question

Postby Grandmaster marc » Sun Apr 24, 2011 8:39 pm

I have happened to pick up one and i love the model but I don't understand its survival rating. its toughness 6 so any one wth great weapons will easily hurt it and its a bullet magnet to all extent. plus as the # of wounds goes down ur less like ly to get the amount of steam to be effective. I'm probably over thinking things just tell me if I'm wrong.

They FAQ'd it to be Toughness 10.

The downside -- they also removed that paragraph that makes it immune to spells without a Strength value, so Purple Sun or Pit of Shades will automatically destroy it, since it auto-fails Initiative tests. But now, you need S9 to wound it on better than a 6, so once it's in combat, it's more or less safe.

Yup. It had some serious changes in the FAQ. The Tank is complicated, but its amazing for many things. First, T10, W10, and Unbreakable can ruin peoples days. Second, it can seriously hurt you, even if it doesnt generate a full 5 steam points. Third, it can fire while in close combat.

I always find the Tank to be amazing on offense and defense.

Well, your opponent is supposed to choose their lore when they make their list. So if they make their list after they choose you as an opponent, and take Lore of Shadow/Death when they normally don't, then they're kind of being a d-bag. But yes, the only things you really have to worry about are Magic and LOTS of War Machines or Poisoned Attacks.

The Mammoth is a push over... the Steam Tank is nice however don't expect it to be a win all. People will always find a way to deal with it.
